Orthodox and Catholics are not technically infidels. Yes, they get 'Religious Difference' penalties in relations, but because they are so similar and were divided in the Great Schism they don't get the Holy War CB UNLESS the Byzantine Emperor restored the Great Schism, in which case Catholicism becomes a heresy, thus becoming a valid Holy War target.You can still wage wars vs Muslims as Orthodox, though.EDIT: The Orthodox religion won't do any Invasions and such because it is under the rule of the Byz. Even if he was Independent, he won't give you much support, as he doesn't earn much money in the first place to hire troops.
