Wikipedia actually has quite a good write up on OBD:Essentially, OBD allows you only to read and reset fault codes relating to emissions, plus live values.It doesn't allow changing of any parameters or interrogation of any other system e.g. ABS, TWICE, etc.If you've got a smartphone, then you can get a Bluetooth or WiFi plug in sender for £20 and download an app to read values etc. There's quiet a few free ones that work well, but I opted for Dash Command from Palmer Performance.You will need to check whatever app you use supports diesel vehicles. I've also got a 2003 2.2 9-5 and have two code readers. One which was bought in about 2006-ish from Canada that will read and reset nearly every vehicle apart from my 9-5. The second was an op-com clone with 1.39 version software that was lent to me (op-com is the GM version of tech 2). It has a specific Saab 9-5 setting and will read and reset most fault codes.

Doesn't do anything with Twice-Dice as such so for changing parameters you need a real Tech-2. With a bit of playing I found I can get nearly all the engine running data by selecting the Omega 2003 2.2 model. They are around the £20 from 'the bay' so might be worth a punt to try.Now if only I could replace the front bushes with the click of a mouse!
